The Carthusian monastery Valdemossa

The Carthusian monastery Valdemossa

The Carthusian Monastery of Valldemossa is a monumental place located just 20 min (by driving) away from Palma.
In this beautiful Carthusian Monestery you will see the gold palace of a king, dating back to 1309, a beautiful church with frescos of Bayeu, long white-arched corridor leading to different cells that the monks inhabited to find peace and rest. The Carthusian Monestery is famous for its beautiful gardens and terraces with some of the most astonishing views to the valley. An old pharmacy with ancient pots and medicines still in it. Here at The Carthusian Monestery you will find the 2nd most important private collection in the world of Chopin & George Sand, with original manuscripts, play scores, personal objects, and paintings of the couple that recall their stay here in 1838. Art lovers will be pleased with an art collection of some of the greatest modern Spanish and local artists (including Miró, who found also inspiration in this part of the island). You will get to explore another incredible collection of the archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria, who actually came here to Majorca and felt absolutely in love with this part of the island.

Come and take home with you some of the greatest memories of Majorca together with your couple, friends or family. You will find much inspiration here, just like many others already did before.
