Sa Capelleta Santa Maria de l’Olivar sanctuary

Sa Capelleta Santa Maria de l’Olivar is a hidden church situated on the road between Soller and Fornalutx, three kilometers from Sóller. Sanctuary has a fairy-tale architecture and it is unique. It is a popular trail – you will find the signpost from and to Soller for walkers. Sa Capelleta Santa Maria de l’Olivar was built in 1943 and 1944. The complex also includes the pilgrimage chapel “Sa Capelleta”, which has the architectural style of Antoni Gaudí.

The Sa Capelleta is supported by four pillars made of stones. The interior has the style of a grotto with stalactite formations. In the chapel there are figures of the Virgin Mary and Saint Bernadette. Sa Capelleta Santa Maria de l’Olivar was a favoured venue for the weddings of local people and was looked after by the priests. This was the place the priest used to live. Nowadays, two Nuns – Sister Mary Magdalene and Sister Carmen Bernasser running the retreat centre and maintaining the church. Sa Capelleta Santa Maria de l’Olivar is unusual place, worth to visit.
