Sa Canova beach

Sa Canova beach

Sa Canova or Arenal de sa Canova is located in northern cost of Mallorca and is called as one of Mallorca’s most beautiful and natural beaches. Sa Canova is a very long beach, is situated at 13 kilometres from Can Picafort. This beach is enclosed by nature and feels very far from civilisation thats why it is relatively unknown by tourists and quiet even in the peak of summer. Nudism is allowed.
Sa Canova is 2 km long with soft, golden sand, shells, turquoise water and some rocks here and there. Sa Canova is rich with its landscape. Sa Canova has one lifeguard station and a few bars a bit further away, but no sun loungers, pedal boats, water sport rentals or toilets. Pack a picnic and plenty of water if you wish to spend a whole day here.
Sa Canova is a perfect spot for walkers. This beach is one of Mallorca’s coastal hiking routes. Along the beach you will find wooden steps and walkways over the dunes to the marked trails behind. The sea can become rough when the wind picks up as this area is not sheltered like the beaches further up the coast. This is a reason why Sa Canova is a great spot to catch a wave, watch surfers and kite boarders doing their thing. The sea has several sand banks which mean that your walk out into the sea remains shallow a long way out, making it a great spot for children to play in the shallows.
The sand dunes and forest makes access to this beach quite difficult. The accessibility by car is not easy, you must allways keep an eye on the signs and when driving on the forest road. Drive till you reach a free parking area and walk a few minutes till the beach. You can reach Sa Canova by hiking as well. Hike from the town of S’Estanyol or from Son Serra de Marina. If you walk along Son Serra de Marina beach it in time turns into Sa Canova.
